Safe or not, it is my strongest style of pull, and has been uploaded for purpose of illustration.

Me deadlifting.
Note: this is not good form. This is a semi stiff-legged roundback pure brute strength pull that I would only save for competition.
In general, pull with butt lower, chest higher, and back flat. I wouldn't recommend the above form to anyone, though it is technically competition legal as I did not hitch the lift.

A traditional, wider stance "power" squat.
Focus is on sitting back with shins remaining close to vertical.
This reduces the range of motion of the exercise so it's easier to hit parallel, defined by the crease of the hip dropping below the top of the knee.
