You know this ignorance of psychedelics is? clearly a cultural reflection and it deeply saddens me. Why? Because I know the awesome potential of these medicines. Psychedelics cured me of neuroses and insecurities I didn't even think about until I realized that I no longer was at the mercy of them. I don't like to closed minded and anti drug, but if some "illegal" drugs can be used in the medical field to help mental problems. But when it comes to mind altering it can change peoples minds forever, and turn into mental pain and trigger anxiety disorders. And its not just the people who misuses them either. Some people okay (maybe a minority)? do get mental problems from even a bit of weed. And some people get full blown psychosis. Ive heard MDMA can give depressed patients relief.

And you do your research. One of the first uses of hallucinogens after the stigmatizing label 'psychotomimetic' was discarded was in therapy. There were countless successes stories. Only when kids where? getting wasted on booze and dropping ten hits at a noisy party or getting their beer spiked with 800 mikes were there causalities. LSD is powerful medicine and when treated with ample respect and caution it can be the most emotionally liberating and therapeutic experience of ones life.

I'm just worried that if I do decide to talk to someone about it, that'll just? be it for me. Completely. It scares me. I don't wanna be put on medicine. When I think of depending on a pill..., I guess, I'm just afraid it'll alter my mind in some way. And in not a good way. That and because I don't wanna be told that what I'm feeling is wrong, and be made to feel as though I must change my views on certain things. Part of depression is genetic and if you watched the video or actually looked at the research you would know this. First you find? patients with depression who have a twin and you compare the identical twins (sharing 100% of genes) to fraternal twins (50% of genes). Guess what? Because this guy actually studies the effects of stress hormones on the brain and has seen the results himself. As someone who suffers from anxiety and depression this is more than figuring out psycho-social factors and he tackles? the subject better than anyone else. Not sure if you watched the whole thing but he tackles the monoanime hypothesis and refutes it because antidepressants drugs don't work on everyone.

It's overwhelming sometimes, because you feel you have to explain why things get you down, or you over-complicate things, or just can't get out of bed somedays.. but then get frustrated with others who don't understand what? you're trying to convey. I say that my depression makes me rather Selfish, because it forces me to withdraw from my life and those around me and only think of myself... but you're right - talking helps, and even you acknowledging me, helps x

Think i guess that it just works differently for other people, i've had cbt since 2007, i'm in a few groups but neither is helping, or even, remotely helping. Have to find a method of coping that works for you i think, i just don't know what mine is. Been having treatment since i was in primary? school.

I agree, I did Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and in turn, I am now a Psychologist (Forensic). It's not a cure, but it helps you to see the bigger picture. You acknowledge all? the bad, the crap, the animosity in life - but you also know that there are solutions, courage to see things through to the end, and that better things are coming. It helps you to be less internal (blaming yourself) and seeing the world for the mutli-shaded world it is. I wish you well xx

There is no single 'heal' to mental illness as the cause for 'mental illness' has an exhaustive amount of variables and affects people differently; it's subjective. DO NOT, and I repeat, do NOT state that you have a cure, when frankly you don't. People need a COPING mechanism, and hope, Faith, whatever that one day it'll pass.? I personally? am also in favor of natural cures. However, it is important to see a psychologist. A good psychologist will be willing to work with you if you are opposed to medication. But for 99% of us out there, you can't do this on your own (sorry to break you the news). Cognitive behavioral therapy is popular for dysthymia because it helps make sense of and change the background noise cluttering our brains, often the underlying cause of the depression. Good luck!

My recommendation: Seek help. The sooner you begin to start a path of healing, the more effective your recovery will be. The bad news is that there is no one singular all-inclusive cure. The good news is there a lots of options so you can find the help which most suits you. I would recommend? starting with going to a psychologist to get a proper diagnosis. Also, you should get a blood test to rule out vitamin deficiency or thyroid issues, etc. Good luck! You will get better!

Well i am well versed personal development but still have depression! I certainly don't have all the answers? but i am intent on cracking this 'thing' they have labelled 'depression' - i agree the answer to any problem lies at its root and not symptom!! Anyway, perhaps you would like to share with all of us on here how you can help us then?? Hi, you might be right in other cases, might not in my case, I am in a financial position where I can live off what I own and do not need to earn from any other sources. depression played a big part in my life for years before I learnt? to turn it around and overcome it, what helped me to overcome it was learning and researching how depression works, 65% of people develope depression from not acheiving there goals they set for them selfs. i know exactly what u mean. i've taken myself off? my meds every single time when they stopped working or the side effects just got to be too much. the key is to find a great counselor [which i've finally managed to do] and get on some meds without the least amount of side effects and ones u can manage effectively. eventually, most likely several years later, you'll be able to get off the meds and be able to manage the depression again. good luck.

I agree that some people do genuinely face physical disorders that then produce these depressive and bipolar mental states. But for most, I see a psychological basis. In other words, external situations they have been unable to process or cope with in their lives and have buried pain or an evolved ongoing hopelessness. People don't have the $ to shell out to get help for their? "issues" so the levels of depression are rising as are the number of people lashing out in violence.

It's hard to forgive when you haven't placed your finger on what has hurt so badly. Sometimes we become overwhelmed and thereby trapped in our own minds indefinitely no longer able to understand what the hurts are. A lot of times severe, chronic depression and bipolar disorders do not make sense ... they aren't reflections of horrible things happening to you in this world, they aren't even logical and when you? think about it you ask yourself, "how can I be sad?". But that doesn't solve the problem, it doesn't make the pain go away. Some depression can be cured, and I encourage people to look for help, but don't trivialize it.

Do you really think having money makes Depression and Bipolar Disorder easier to deal with? Money doesn't make saddness go away and many times treatment doesn't work, or the cure can be as bad as the illness itself. My mom claims I should take mood-lifting pills that were advertised on tv. Yeah right... not going to happen. I tried? too many anti-depressants; I feel they have been a waste of my money. And sometimes all of the talk therapy in the world doesn't make you feel as if a weight has been lifted off of your shoulder for even that moment. I understand this woman's pain. I have dealt with severe recurrent depression for nearly 30 years. Clinical depression causes an inner agony that is so intense that one cannot describe it unless one lives it. Making things worse is the fact that despite the intensity, your whole being is wrapped inside a dark, gauzy cloud that obscures all light. It is an affective disorder, meaning that you cannot easily escape because it slows down your? brain to the point that you cannot "snap out of it."

Thanks for replying. I too wish there was an easy remedy. The best anyone can do is to go with the flow and simply be when you feel you cannot do anything else. I just watched the sobering documentary Gasland about frracking. Things like that make you feel there is no hope at all for the world we live in. hi, I struggled with honesty in front of the psychiatrist because I have trust issues. ? I refused many medications, and had to stop seeing some of them because they had either dropped me or too expensive. Sometimes the things you say can be used against you, but if you feel help is very necessary, then I would tell the truth about your feelings/symptoms, but there is no guarantee that a doctor will think hospitalization is not required.

My dad passed during my second year of college.. so much was lost..our home..the few belongings we did have..I'm broke and didn't have the resources to just take time off and vacation (i got? to a private school with a lot of trustfund kids)..so it was mandatory that i have outside therapy in order to take time off, but wouldn't be able to get therapy at school. I totally agree that the cure to depression is to alter your lifestyle. She made alot of great points in this video. I started lifting at the gym and doing that on a regular schedule helps me. I think a? purpose/regular schedule in life is important. Be productive and feel good about what you do. I've cooked this one time including her moms bread & poor mans meal. I cooked the pasta with peas & upon tasting it, spoon full after spoon full I could not get enough, then the end of the bowl came. I found myself staring at the empty bowl in awe of just how amazing & simple that dish was to? make! We love u Clara!!

I was a young boy during the Dirty 30s. My folks were Kansas Farmers at the time, I remember wet rags around windows and doors to keep the dust out, all it did was slow the dust down. I remember a lot of people blamed Wall Street for? the Depression.

IRAQ,my father was born 1904 he was tailor he had lil store to make clothes ,he told me about the great depression in usa and effected iraq they had name for it (senin loa).he said in one month no one come to his store no customer at all .he spent all his mony then he went back to the village but people starving .so they had to live on hunting when there is no hunt they had to eat even the skin of the cow after shaving it

It is very sad to see a family thrown out of a home for non-payment of rent, but baracading themselves inside is not the answer. Not all landlords are rich fat cats. Many landlords have bills of their? own to pay. If the renter does not keep his commitment to pay rent the landloard might fall behind on his payments and lose the entire building... wiping out a lifetime of sacrifce. It is not right to take away everything a man has ever worked for just because another mand wants to sleep somewhere.
