The issue isn't whether or not the Beatles were surrealists or a rock band since surrealism, being a thematically oriented movement, dealt with a variety of genres and mediums. My? point is that Lennon's work never deviated from that late Beatles emphasis upon the surreal. He was thematically consistent to the point that I consider him third most influential surrealist behind Dali and Joyce. McCartney's work didn't preserve that same vision.
