not very pretty.... Are you kidding? I think the designers have done well to think out the box and stray from? the natural conventions of painting fast lines on bikes (getting rather old, we've seen it all). Repetition is clearly just an effective graphic element in this situation, It looks good! Of course a bike is going to be a billboard for sponsors, Id be pretty peed off if I was a major sponsor of a team at the most lucrative sporting event in the world and my logo wasn't even on the bike.

How much profit do the guys at Trek NEED? How many cars do they need? How many? houses in Tuscany do they NEED? How much do they need in the bank to feel satisfied? I'm quite sure you'd find more than enough people in the US/EU that would be fine with $10 and hour with benefits and if the CEO of Trek has to give up one of his Lear jets in the process, fine. Trek, and every other company the outsources should be made to have MADE IN CHINA on the side of the bike, like they do with cigarettes.

Sad to say that the Chinese factory workers suffer hard time jobs but, they would prefer that than see their family hungry for days because of a $1-2/hr jobs that they would get at some farm. Probably far less than? I estimated.

That's the sad part about reality. No one except the locals are gonna give to their fellow men. If you're looking at big companies, all you get is a sticker for every event that they attend. The profit they make would significantly be lost? if the factory jobs were given to those who prefer to be paid above $15/hr vs $2-4/hr. I mean the guys building the big shot bikes here in the US and other big shot countries feel they deserve over $30/hr because they feel they're special :)

The markup for a made in USA/EU bike, or any product for that matter, would only be an additional 10-15%. I would GLADLY pay that, the problem is that the CEOs of companies like Trek, Apple, Nike feel the? need to own 488 foot long yachts, private islands and fleets of Gulfstream jets rather than taking a small financial hit and employing USA/EU citizens. Blame Lance? Never. He's just a factory rider who made US cycling cool again, I met him in DC when I was a messenger, one of the boys he was.

I understand where you're coming from but, you cannot blame him. If you like Trek,? it's necessary that they outsource their product to those countries or otherwise they will shut down and forever be gone because, every single company does the same with the range of bicycles under $9,000. Do we wanna pay $9,000 for a bike made in some dudes garage? Definitely not the US, since we love Walmart but, talk shit about them.

I have to say that value for money wise? Cube are better but when you get to a certain level of brilliant engineering you cannot beat a top of the range Trek, nothing even comes close to the speed concepts and madone's for me :)

No, I think at this point 85% of American cyclists would pay a few bucks extra for an American made bike. The thing is now is that you don't HAVE a choice, EVERYTHING is made by slaves, and people like me, who have a few extra bucks (in my case euros) in their pocket, would rather buy something for 5-10% more that's QUALITY rather than something that's lower quality made by slaves in a slave factory in? communist China. $2 a day in the Trek factory? SHAME ON TREK, what a disgrace.

No... he means that he's been on THE INTERNET since 1996, and that saying Dr. Who? is better than Star Trek and Star Wars is ridiculous. Personally, I see them as equals. Each has it's own good qualities. Dr. Who is intriguing to the mind, Star Wars has an amazing story and history; it's not a movie... it's a universe. And Star Trek: Lots of areas of interest; good original stories, a loyal fanbase, and different generations if you don't like one, and it was a breakthrough in science fiction.

Trying to decide which is better is very difficult for me. Personally i think SW has cooler looking ships and weapons. ST has been around longer? and has a much bigger catalog. SW is more spiritual, ST is more social conscious. To me, they're in different worlds [no pun], they're both excellent but in different leagues. I don't think they can be compared. I enjoy both.

Thank you. I was going to say something in relation? to what Shatner had said in this interview, but you've pretty much hit the nail on the head. If you're a true fan of both, you can't say one is better than the other, they all are fantastic, for different reasons. I love sci-fi, and Star Wars and Star Trek are at the top of my list :)

I loved both as a kid. The prequals were ruined by Lucas deciding that the bottom line is all that mattes by catering to kids. The originals were loved by kids and adults alike, no reason to make it? more kiddy and alienate fans. As Star Trek I would prefer a future timeline after the TNG series.

I like them both albeit for different reasons. Because they both ARE different. It's a bit like saying "who's better? The Beatles or The Rolling Stones?" Well, everyone's got a favorite. But why should there be a choice of one being great and the other not being great at all? "Star Trek" is great? and "Star Wars" is great. I think that the former is based more on teamwork and people trying to get along in a military-style environment. "Star Wars" is more based on epics & mythology.

Yea, but let's be frank, half of those are just extended episodes. I liked First Contact and Wrath of Khan though, and Voyage Home was also amusing. Well, it's not that I don't like? they other movies, it's just that they could have been episodes. Oh yeah, the 2009 movie was also pretty good, imo.

I hate you ignorant morons, who think all a movie needs is a bunch of pretty lights and some big action. The film was marketed as a "prequel" to the series, not an alternate timeline. The lure of the Star Trek has always been its ability to offer a "fictional and plausible future", but this film had so many flaws, not just in continuity with the series, but in reality. Who the? hell would believe that a cadet would be made the captain of the flag ship of the entire fleet? Makes no sense.

I also think this film would have worked better with the Star Trek ideals of hope for humanity if it hadn't been so gutted by focus groups. Orignally we saw Kirk now lived with an abusive drunk? uncle. That would have made jerky Kirk easier to accept. It also would have made the bettering of himself though the movie more uplifting and more along those optimistic view of the human race.

The difference there? is the Star Trek franchise was still on television at the time First Contact came out. Star Trek as a whole was still able to tell stories about ideas. A dun action romp that took place in that universe was a perfectly acceptable fun thing in that context. This film stands alone. It carries the the whole torch at once. Star Trek shouldn't be all about action.
